In a secluded shoreline spot on this beautiful island, you will find the Dougarie Boathouse standing proudly with its unique curved roof, surrounded by spectacular seascape views and stunning Scottish countryside which provide the perfect backdrop for photos, whilst retaining the privacy of an exclusive rural retreat.
This beautiful grade II listed building was lovingly restored in 2021 to recreate its role as the place to hold the best and most memorable celebrations and parties. The result is a spectacular Scottish setting for your wedding day.

A place that’s been hosting parties for over 100 years
Originally built out of local red sandstone in 1885, not just as a Boathouse for launching sailboats into the Kilbrannon Sound, but also a place for entertaining guests of the 11th Duke of Hamilton, where he spent his summers fishing by day and hosting ceilidh’s at night!
And now the Boathouse is available for exclusive use on your wedding day. We have lovingly refurbished this unique Arran landmark, and we can now cater for intimate weddings, larger weddings, wedding receptions, civil ceremonies, and partnerships. We will, of course, work closely with you to create an exclusive celebration that’s just right for your day.

You’ve been to some beautiful weddings as a guest and now it’s your turn to host! You want your day to be that little bit different, a day to remember. Your day. Your way. A place where you can have everyone you care about celebrating with you…uninterrupted.
There is space for up to 80 guests, plus the option of having a marquee for up to 200 of your friends and family if you’re having a bigger celebration. And all with exclusive use for you.
There are so many options available on where to host your ceremony: inside or outside at the boathouse, on the beach, or even up at the beautiful Loch Iorsa. If a traditional church wedding is what you are dreaming of, there are many very pretty churches on the island too.
We also have accommodation close by and there are wonderful award-winning hotels dotted around the island, with the closest just being a 10 min drive away.

The team at the Boathouse were incredible from start to finish and went over and above at every turn, even when one of our suppliers was struggling to provide their service, the Boathouse team worked through the night to make sure we could have a wedding day of wedding days! I cannot recommend the Boathouse enough and to top it off the Arran micro-climate weather completed our day. They provide a fantastic package service that includes everything and is made even better by keeping it local and supporting islanders within this. I simply cannot thank the team enough. You are truly wonderful and I’m so sad the wedding preparations are complete!”

“We loved the fact we had exclusive use of The Boathouse
Staff were on hand to help from the minute we arrived on the Island Malin the Events Coordinator is amazing and worth her weight in gold! We can’t fault the Boathouse and staff!!! The support and help we received were second to none, nothing was too much trouble, from Joel the Barman and his staff to our Celebrant Sarah !! The venue itself was just as stunning as when we first fell in love with it back in September 2021. The Boathouse Beauty & charm speaks for itself as does the scenery! We can’t deny the weather makes all the difference with endless photograph possibilities outside and if you are lucky the odd seal will make an appearance. We loved the fact we had exclusive use of The Boathouse, we were able to put our own stamp on it, use our own suppliers, and decorate to our taste, not that the venue needed anything less is more in this case. Not sure what else we can say, a truly magical place, that casts a spell on everyone that visits!!
